Words of Spiritual Masters

Beautifully Smiling Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi

‘Whatever is due to be experienced will not fail to come whether one desires it or not. Padam (Ramana) says this repeatedly.

‘Whatever happens, let it happen; whatever does not happen let it not happen.
A mind with this attitude will be well established in the Self.

Padam (God) questions: ‘When the burden of this world, created by Myself, is for Me alone, why should you have that thought?’

You will lose your Peace and your mind will grieve if you put your trust in anyone other than God.

It is joyful to move around, feeling happily surrendered to whatever the grace of the Lord prompts us to do.
-
Sri Ramana Maharishi (recorded in Padamalai).

D.:We are told to practise indifference (udasina) which is possible
only if the world is unreal.
M.:Yes. Oudasinyam abhipsitam. Indifference is advised. But what
is it? It is absence of love and hatred. When you realise the Self
on which these phenomena pass, will you love or hate them? That
is the meaning of indifference.
D.:That will lead to want of interest in our work. Should we do our
duty or not?
M.:Yes - certainly. Even if you try not to do your duty you will be
perforce obliged to do it. Let the body complete the task for which
it came into being.
Sri Krishna also says in the Gita, whether Arjuna liked it or not he
would be forced to fight. When there is work to be done by you,
you cannot keep away; nor can you continue to do a thing when
you are not required to do it, that is to say, when the work allotted
to you has been done. In short, the work will go on and you must
take your share in it - the share which is allotted to you.
D.:How is it to be done?
M.:Like an actor playing his part in a drama - free from love or hatred.

Talks with Sri Ramana Maharishi.

After Balananda had initiated a local King, he asked, “Please tell me how I can rule my kingdom. I am always assailed by fear, doubt, anxiety and worry.”

Balananda said, “It is very easy. From now on, let all your possessions remain with you, but feel that they are not yours. They belong to God. God is the sole owner of all the things that you claim to be yours; you are only His manager. He has asked you to manage these things on His behalf, but He is the real owner. You are the false owner. Since the real owner always takes care of His own property, the false owner must surrender to His Will. Pray to God to make you an unconditional instrument of His. In that way you will never be assailed by fear, worry, anxiety and doubt; you will be only a dear instrument of His.
- Sri Sri Balananda Brahmachari Maharaj.

Hari (Lord) will protect him, who has got Faith (in Guru/God) and Patience (for the workings of His ever flowing Grace).

You need not go far or anywhere in search of Me. Barring your name and form, there exists in you, as well as in all beings, a sense of Being or Consciousness of Existence. That is Myself. Knowing this, you see Me inside yourself, as well as in all beings. If you practise this, you will realize all-pervasiveness, and thus attain oneness with Me.

He who loves Me most, always sees Me. The whole world is desolate to him without Me, he tells no stories but Mine. He ceaselessly meditates upon Me and always chants My name. I feel indebted to him who surrenders himself completely to Me and ever remembers Me. I shall repay his debt by giving him salvation (self-realization). I am dependent on him who thinks and hungers after Me and who does not eat anything without first offering it to Me. He who thus comes to Me, becomes one with Me, just as a river gets to the sea and becomes merged (one) with it. So leaving out pride and egoism and with no trace of them, you should surrender yourself to Me Who am seated in your heart.

He who carps and cavils at others, pierces Me in the heart and injures Me, but he that suffers and endures, pleases Me most.

I shall consider you blessed, when you will renounce all attachments, conquer lust and palate, and getting rid of all impediments, serve God whole-heartedly. In due time your bad actions (their fruit or result) will be destroyed, your merits and demerits will be reduced to ashes.

There are innumerable saints in this world, but 'Our father' (Guru) is the Father (Real Guru). Others might say many good things, but we should never forget our Guru's words. In short, love your Guru whole-heartedly, surrender to Him completely and prostrate yourselves before Him reverentially and then you will see that there is no sea of the mundane existence before you to cross, there is no darkness before the sun.

Come what may, leave not, but stick to your Bolster (support, i.e. Guru) and ever remain steady, always at-one-ment (in union) with Him.
- Shirdi Sai Baba.

You must enjoy the fruit - good or bad - of your past actions; if the enjoyment be incomplete, suicide won't help you. You have to take another birth and suffer again; so instead of killing yourself, why not suffer for some time and finish up your store of the fruit of your past deeds and be done with it once and for all?
- Akkalkotkar Maharaj.

Whenever you possibly can, sustain the flow of a sacred Name. To repeat His name is to be in His presence. If you associate with the Supreme Friend, He will reveal His true being to you.
- Anandamayi Ma.

One must always remain absorbed in the thought of Him. One must keep it going all the time. In all conditions and circumstances.

Love is the main thing. You can do japa, chant mantras,or do worship, but if you do not have love then all these things are worthless.

First of all, if you don't pray to the Mother, you will not get Father. Mother, who takes you on her lap, That which is my God, the spiritual power Kundalini Shakti, is Mahamaya... ["the great illusion"]

You have to wake Her first. You have to pray to Her first. That is why our worship of the Mother is needed first of all. Because who is He who is my Father? Only the Mother knows. She will take me to Him in her arms. If you can wake up that Mahamaya, that great power in sushumna, by way of the thousand petaled lotus, then you will drink Amrit [nectar]. You will see Nada-Bindu-Kala. But only with Mother's help. That is why we need the worship of Mother.

- Sri Prahlad Chandra Brahmachari.

Faith will get you God, debate goes on forever.
- Sri Chaitanya.
