Vast majority of humans (including married people) waste their life through self-centered/selfish living with agitating/tormenting selfish desires/hatreds/attachments and cause pain & sufferings to others/innocents and reap them back as per infallible Supreme Divine Justice/Will birth after birth.

The real purpose/meaning/way of living is to continuously purify/reform oneself to get rid of selfishness and with humility as Divine instrument/tool be useful/helpful to others in God's creation and ultimately through selfless purified mind attain the ever joyful, peaceful, and fearless state of Self-Realization/inseparable Oneness with God by His Supreme Divine Grace.

In God's Universe, Jnanis/Self-Realized beings offer the greatest possible help/service to the entire creation through the radiation of their Peace and Grace triggering extraordinary changes for good including blessing/granting the fit ones with Bramma Jnana, even for many hundreds of years into the future after their normal human physical existence like my Great Jnana Guru Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi.

God/Guru/Self/Athma/ParaBrammam are in essence nothing but one and the same ever Peaceful and Blissful Pure Consciousness-Being, the only Real Existence with infinite Intelligence and Creative Power. All is That Only - God, Universe, and Living things/beings.

How to measure the Spiritual progress of one who is carrying out spiritual practices towards God/Self-Realization? According to Bhagavan Sri Ramana, "the increasing degree of freedom from unwanted thoughts (as selfish desires/hatreds/attachments that make mind restless without Peace) and the increasing degree of concentration on the single thought of God/Self are the measures for one's Spiritual progress".
